Here is a sale you don't want to miss! If you have ever wanted a top line embroidery/sewing machine now's the time to buy!! This comes with an unbelievable deal!!
Some days I don't know what to work on should it be another knit project something woven or something sewn! lol well I've made it even more difficult today as I have finally received my fabric order of Fireside. Its a really soft 60" wide polyester that makes an incredible backing for quilts. I've brought in 4 colours with a gray/white mix still on backorder but should be coming in sometime in Aug. If you are looking for a nice soft backing for a quilt then you need to come in and feel this beautiful fabric!well summer in Haliburton is in full swing! Our little town doubles if not triples once all our visitors and seasonal residents have arrived. All the camps are full and kids have started their summer holidays so all is good. I’ve been always interested in weaving and before I decided to open a yarn shop I took some weaving classes at the school of the arts here in Haliburton. Unfortunately the shop took so much of my time I never had a chance to get back at it. Haliburton does have a weaving guild and are always ready to help anyone willing to learn to weave which is great for a newbie like me! Anyhow I wanted to use up some of the yarns I have in the store and I watched a few videos on Rigid heddle looms. These are easily transportable and something I can take back and forth to work. I talked to a few people from the guild and finally decided to get one. I bought a 32” Kromski Harp loom. It was a snap to put together and I’ve made 2 pieces already. One is a shawl the other a scarf. It’s a bit of a learning curve but now I feel more confident in what I need to do. What I like about this loom is it has a warping board on the backside of the loom so you can make larger warps. Here are the projects I’ve done so far. Like most hand work it’s so relaxing. Hope you all have a great summer
I’ve had the chance to finally see the new sculptures that have been placed in our downtown core. Here is the one I have had the pleasure of sponsoring. If you haven’t had the chance to check them all out I strongly suggest you do. #haliburtonhighlands #lovethistown
Haliburton Sculpture Project is ready to be launched on Thursday June 21st at 2:00pm and I am pleased to be a sponsor of this project. I think the town owes a big thank you to Jim Blake who has spearheaded this project. It's going to be a great addition to our beautiful little town. Hopefully I'll be able to get some photos soon of the artistry that will be on display.
